Venezuela has a long heritage of crafting rich and refined rums: “Ron de Venezuela” is a Denomination of Controlled Origin, certifying that rums are aged at least two years and produced only in 12 designated states. The family-owned Destilería Sofa is the oldest in the country, founded in 1796.

Venezuelan rums are known for their complexity, often offering flavors of dark chocolate, toffee, vanilla, caramel, and a variety of spices. Toasted coconut, candied orange peels and tobacco accentuate the long finish.
